Prince Perry has been a staple of the Toronto ska and reggae community for over ten years. Once dubbed ‘Little Prince” by The Selecter’s Pauline Black, Perry was schooled by Rolando Alphonso of the legendary Skatalites in the early 90’s before starting his own reggae and ska projects.

Known to Toronto scenesters as a founding member of ska combo Frankie Foo and the Yo Yo Smugglers, Perry's most recent project, Prince Perry & The Gladtones, marks the beginning of his career as a solo artist. His debut album ‘Songs About Girls’ demonstrates Perry’s passion for ska and reggae and showcases his ability to craft and carry memorable tunes.

Produced and engineered by Mitch ‘King Kong’ Girio, ‘Songs About Girls’ was released in early 2010 by Winterbeard Records and continues to chart regularly on numerous campus / community stations across Canada, while receiving regular airplay from CBC Radio One and Radio 3.

Perry’s backing band, The Gladtones, feature a number of noteworthy musicians. On Keys: Meher Steinberg (White Cowbell Oklahoma, King Apparatus), Drums: Colin Morgan (The Next Best Thing, Boys Night Out), Trumpet: Jan Hughes (Frankie Foo), Bass: Brendan Bauer (The Midways), Guitar: Stefan Babcock (Stop Drop N Skank).

Since their sold out CD release show, Prince Perry & The Gladtones have quickly built a reputation as a talented and exciting live act. Regulars at Toronto’s famous Horseshoe Tavern, they pack shows with enthusiastic fans and are poised to become Canada’s next ska/reggae sensation.

The Gladtones' musical director, producer and all around guru, King Kong Girio has backed, bolstered and produced Canada's best ska for more years than it takes Perry to grow a beard. An original member of King Apparatus, Girio's long list of songwriting, production and mixing credits include artists Kirsten Jones, One Night Band, The Kingpins, Lo & The Magnetics, Emma Lee, Clara Engel, The Makeshift Hero's, I An Eye, Cheap Suits and The Planet Smashers.
